Introduction

  • Cassowaries are flightless birds.
  • They are the third tallest and second heaviest living birds.
  • They are omnivores.
  • They can run at up to 50 km/ h.
  • Cassowary has a lifespan about 40 years in the wild.
  • They are native to the rainforests of Australia and New Guinea.
  • It is know as dangerous birds, and they have powerful kicks.

Cassowary’s body

  • Cassowary has black feathers, a large crest “helmet ”on its head, and non-functional wings.
  • On its head and neck, there are uncovered areas of bright blue and red skin.
  • The cassowary weights about 60kg (130 pounds).
  • It stands at almost 1.8 meters (6 feet) tall.
  • Its legs are powerful, with three-toed feet and sharp claws.
